So What Is BOTOX?

Botulinum toxin, commonly known as BOTOX, is composed of a purified protein that is synthesized in a laboratory from the Bacterium Clostridium. Though the bacterium itself is dangerous, BOTOX injections are safe in the proper dosage.

  • The dermal fillers we use at Divine MediSpa is Hyaluronic Acid (HA). Hyaluronic Acid is found naturally in the body to give the skin shape and appear smooth and plump. As you age, your natural HA decreases and skin starts to wrinkle and sag. When filler is injected into these areas, the skin will appear full and smooth again.

  • Depending on the area being treated, results can last between 6 -12 months.

  • Some risk include; redness, swelling, tenderness, and bruising.

  • You will see results immediately after treatment, however, there is usually some swelling. After two weeks you will see the full result. It is recommended to come back in to the spa after two weeks for a follow up visit to determine if more derma fillers is needed.

  • There will be some discomfort from the treatment. A topical anesthesia (numbing cream) can be used to freeze the area before injection. Lidocaine is also in the filler so you will not feel any pain when the filler is going into the skin.

WHAT IS DEOXYCHOLIC ACID?

Deoxycholic acid is a naturally occurring molecule found in the body that destroys dietary fats. Deoxycholic acid injections are safe and effective to use below the chin area to improve the appearance of a double chin. When it is injected into fat cells, the cells break down and is eliminated through the body’s own metabolic process. Once destroyed, the cells cannot come back.

WHAT IT DOES:

  • Eliminate fat from under the chin

Deoxycholic Acid - Frequently Asked Questions

  • Deoxycholic Acid is injected into targeted areas below the chin. A topical numbing cream is applied before injections to make the experience more comfortable. The entire procedure is about 30 minutes.

  • The only area that has been tested and proven safe and effective is under the chin.

  • Immediately after your treatment you may experience some discomfort, swelling, and bruising for up to two weeks.

  • You should expect to see results within 5-6 weeks after your appointment. You will have a follow up appointment to check your progress.

  • The number of treatments recommended depends on the results you are looking for and how much fat is in the area being treated. Usually about 2-4 treatments are recommended, about 5 weeks apart.
